Christmas Festivities in NC

We spent today celebrating Christmas with some activities in North Carolina!

First stop - Carl Sandburg Home in Flat Rock. Let me first say that IT WAS COLD!!! Okay, just had to make sure that was stated! The kids loved getting out in the field and petting the goats! They had no fear at first and loved on a sweet little white goat! Then, C-man went to give a little pat to another goat and the goat totally head-butted him in the chest and sent him down! HAHAH!!! All M and I could do was laugh! He wasn't hurt, but I think the goat may have hurt his feelings. It didn't deter the little guy too long, he was back loving on some goats in no time:) We toured the rest of the barns and then went up to the house and S did a craft while C wreaked havoc in the visitor's center - HA! And finally, we enjoyed some cookies while listening to a guitar player singing Christmas songs!

Second stop - lunch in Asheville. We stopped for what we thought would be a quick lunch at Mayfel's in Asheville. Well, we finally ate at 2pm!!!! The food was good, but at this time of day when the kids are hungry and have not had naps, I honestly would have just assumed a quick lunch at McDonalds! But, we made it, saw a very busy downtown Asheville (it has been FIVE years since I've been up there!!) and then we were on our way!

Third stop - Grove Park Inn. Five years ago M and I had come up to check out the gingerbread house display at the Grove Park Inn. I knew S would love it so I wanted to make sure we got there! She did love it and really loved everything about the Grove Park Inn - the sleigh, the glass elevator, the huge lobby room and the live music. I guess maybe the two of us should make a trip up there together for the night sometime because our trip definitely got cut short by a certain fussy little boy who was becoming quite miserable! We didn't stay nearly as long as I would have liked, but we did get to see some pretty awesome gingerbread creations!! We'll try again next year for hopefully a longer stay:)
