Our Little Piano Player

Thanksgiving 2008

Yay! I love Thanksgiving!

Every year (except last year b/c S was so young) we go to my grandfather's house on the coast of NC. We have TONS of family come in from all over and we have a huge party on Thanksgiving Day and our family golf tournament, The Turkey Shoot Out, on Friday followed by another huge party on Friday night!

I look forward to this every year and this year especially b/c it was S's first year to go and first time meeting all her cousins! She kept us on our toes the entire time and loved walking around and trying to keep up with all the big kids. Her cousin Walker who is 4 and her hit it off and were such good friends!

It was a great Thanksgiving and I am so blessed to have such a wonderful family!

Santa - Not a Fan

Today I took S to see Santa at the mall. I wanted to do it before the crowds started, so today was the day. After a short morning nap (some days we take them and some days we don't), we headed that way. I thought surely Santa would be there by 10am so we arrived at about 10:30 only to find out he didn't get there until 11am. So, S and I shopped around a bit to kill time and got in line about 5 minutes before he came so we'd be the first ones. Well, we were the first, and she put on a show for the other kiddies waiting! S is not a fan of Santa right now!! It is just the age and pretty humorous, but she wailed when we got within about 3 feet oh him. Last year was so easy b/c she really didn't know the difference and didn't care who was holding her. However, now, she doesn't even like M wearing a hat so you can imagine what she thought of Santa! But, nevertheless, I ordered the pictures so that I could look back and laugh a bit more in a few years. We'll see what happens next year but I'm not getting my hopes too high!

This year's picture (the outfit is a lot cuter, but it doesn't look as good when it is all crinkled up!).

Last year's picture - look how much she has grown!!!!

Playdate Fun

I have a couple of play groups that we are a part of and LOVE the chance to get together with other moms and their kiddos. I usually have my camera but all the chaos of watching S, I have never used it. I decided to bring it out finally and am so glad I did! S and one of the other little girls were totally loving this Elmo that dances and does the hokie-pokie! They were so cute dancing along with it!

Then, S got in the car and conned a little boy to push her around. He would push her so fast and then smash into the door or a wall. Good thing S is a bit of a dare devil and was loving going fast:) Then, they switched places but S was not quite strong enough to push him by herself so the mommies had to offer some assistance! It was SO funny to watch them!

She's Walking

Yay! Finally! S took her first step on September 21. She has been taking multiple steps since September 27. So, I was really curious when she would really start walking. She gets around so quickly crawling, that I think she figured she'd continue to use that mode of transportation for a while. Apparently, though, she has now decided that walking might not be such a bad thing. As of yesterday, she has really been walking a lot more. I'm so excited!!! Now, I can go outside and she can roam around with Abby without messing up her pants. AND, she will be able to wear dresses again! Yippee!!!

Much Better

Well, I have not posted in a while because we have been very busy trying to get our little girl better and have not done anything fun to blog about. Finally, today I can say she is back to 100% herself. Yay!!! It turns out, she is allergic to ammoxicilin (don't know if I spelled that right or not) just like her mommy. She is now eating like a champ and keeping it all down. Sleeping is much better and her entire personality is back to her sweet, precious little self! Thank goodness!!!! We've had super nice, cool weather the last couple weeks and have been limited to how much we could get out but we did manage to get out a bit last week. But, oh, look how sick my baby looks:(
These pictures were taken before she ate a leaf!

For the past 1.5 weeks, S has been one sick little girl:( It is so sad to see her this way. I thought she was getting better once she was on her antibiotic for an ear infection and pink eye. But, then she started running a high fever (102+). Back to the doctor again. Apparently the virus that had originally caused the ear infection was still taking its toll on her and her body was having to fight it. There is nothing you can do about a virus except wait it out - so, that's what we've been doing. I feel so sorry for her. The fever has FINALLY let up (I probably shouldn't say that) but S still has NO appetite, NONE whatsoever. She is withering away - I've had to go back a size in clothes and wish I still had some of her smaller diapers left b/c she is out-shrinking them! I will be glad when this passes and I have a healthy baby girl again.
This is a picture I took a while ago and thought it was cute and since we have not taken any pictures since S has been sick, I'll go ahead and post it. M was working on a bid and S really wanted to help him, so we gave her a calculator and let her have at it!
On Halloween, we had M's cousin's, Kelley's, rehearsal dinner at Smoke on the Water. Her and her to-be husband were so cute. The wedding was on Sat, M was able to go but I had to stay behind and take care of S, so I don't have any pics from the big day:(

OH, and something exciting, we are THUMB-FREE!!!!! That's right, no more thumbsucking for S!!!!!!!!!!! Way to go S:)
