6 Month Pictures

Last week I took S to have her 6 month pictures made. She was really about 6.5 months, but close enough for me! I was SO nervous about taking her since this was her first time and I had no idea how she was going to do. WELLLLLL, she did great! All that worrying for nothing! Here are some of the many, many pictures that were taken.

Trip to the Zoo

My friend's recent post inspired me to take S to the zoo. I have always wanted to go, and with a baby it gave me a good excuse. So, off we went on Friday. Although S seemed to be more interested in the other kids than the animals, she nonetheless enjoyed her outing - as did her mommy and Gigi.

S was asleep when we first got there, so she missed the elephants. This picture is to show her that they really were there!

The giraffes must have been eating over that wall, because they did not move from it the entire time we were over in that area.

Gigi and S.

I carried S for a bit, but it was so warm that I was starting to "glisten" doing so and had to put her back in her stroller. I think she liked it there better anyway!

S's favorite part were 1)watching the other kids and 2)seeing the lions (this picture is her with her eyes wide open watching them).

My favorites were watching the monkies. They had the tiniest little baby who cracked me up!!!!!

Check out S's foot as she lounges in her stroller. Think she was enjoying herself?!!?

Love to Read... and Eat the Books

Usually S just tries to eat the books when I read them to her. She still does that, but occationally does actually pay attention let us flip the pages.

Artisphere

Over the weekend, M and I went downtown to Artisphere. We really don't know too much about art and went more just to get outside and enjoy the music and food. We ate at a restaurant overlooking the park and to my pure entertainment it was prom night for several of the area highschools. Because it was such a beautiful evening, many of the prom goers went to the park to take pre-prom pictures! They looked like they were having so much fun! I enjoyed looking at all the girls in their dresses! We sat there for about an hour and watched them. It was a good, inexpensive night on the town:)

My Little Peanut

This past weekend, M and I took S to the grocery store and for the first time let her sit in the buggy w/o her carrier. It went really well, so S and I went to Target today and I tried again. She did great with it and LOVED being able to see everything going on around her. When she was first born, her grandfather called her Peanut. When she is sitting there in that big 'ol buggy, she definitely looks like a little "Peanut".

Fun Downtown

S and I went downtown today to the park. I sat her on the ground (she's sitting - such a big girl!!) and let her play with the grass. It was something new to put her fingers on and she was quite enthralled by it. I just had to watch to make sure it didn't find its way to her mouth!
Then, I carried her as we walked across the bridge. She has been pushed in the stroller across the bridge before, but has never had the chance to see the waterfall. Well, apparently it freaked her out a bit because she started wailing when I took her to the edge to point out how pretty it was!
Hmmm.... note to self, she may be afraid of heights right now. I'll have to try again in a few months:)
We had a good time - and I got my Starbucks fix!!

Belly

We have been having a hard time with S rolling over from her back to her stomach and screaming until we flip her back over. Yes, I should have been doing more tummy time, but it is so miserable. Well, for the last 3 days, I've been doing tummy time with her and letting her stay on her belly when she gets flipped over. Anyway, last night I put her to bed and then went and checked on her before M and I went to bed. SHE FELL ASLEEP ON HER BELLY WITHOUT CRYING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It completely floored me! YAY!

Roadtrip

Last Thursday, my mom and I set out with Stella in tow for our SE Roadtrip 2008.

We first stopped in Salisbury, NC and Stella got to meet her great grandfather (my dad's dad) and we were able to enjoy our FAVORITE bbq at Richard's BBQ!!

Next stop, and 9 HOURS later (this should be about a 6 1/2 hour drive) we arrived in New Bern, NC and Stella got to meet her other great grandfather (my mom's dad).

We stayed in New Bern until Saturday and had a great time! I ususally only get to go in November for Thanksgiving, but this town is absolutely beautiful in the Spring. We walked downtown and all around the historic district.

After leaving New Bern, we made our way to Raleigh for Stella to meet some of her cousins and her aunt. What fun!!! She LOVED playing with her Aunt Debbie and spending time with her cousins :) Saturday night we stayed in a hotel in Greensboro and I was able to go to a wedding shower for my college friend, Lee. It was wonderful to get away by myself for a bit while mom stayed at the hotel with Stella. The shower was really nice!
When Stella and I got home on Sunday afternoon, daddy was more than ready to see us. And, he wanted us to go for a little drive on his new toy. It was fun and surprisingly smooth!!
We are really getting into the baby foods since Stella will not take a bottle. She is doing better and better with it each day. She really enjoys peas and carrots. When she likes what she is eating, she wants to try and feed herself. So, she grabs onto the spoon which I am still controlling with both hands and helps guide it into her mouth. Then, she proceeds to put her fingers into her mouth as if she has to have every little bit even the stuff that is on her fingers. Well, needless to say, this gets food EVERYWHERE and when she starts rubbing her face she spreads it all over the place.

Yesterday we were eating peas and apples. Here is what she looked like when she finished! She's a happy naked baby!!! I feed her in a diaper and bib now:)

Our Day

Well, the day started out wet and rainy, so we had to wear our rain jackets when we went outside.

Later, after napping, we played for a while.

After it stopped raining, we all went for a walk. Stella got to wear her new sunglasses!
