This and That

So, I need some advice on a couple of things...

1. BAC recently did a post about iTunes for the delivery room. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for iTunes for the gym??? I only have 21 songs and they are starting to get REALLY old now:)

2. S has been waking up the last couple of mornings with her sleeper soaked with peepee because her diaper couldn't hold it all. I have used Pampers Swaddlers from day 1 and up until now they have been great! We are currently in size 2. Does anyone have a brand that they like better? Maybe now that she is getting bigger I need to switch brands.

Now, I also have a bit of advice if you are considering going to Aldi and have never been before.

A. Make sure you have a quarter with you b/c you have to pay to get a buggy.
B. Bring your own bags or you will have to pay for them if you'd like to have your groceries in bags. Aldi does offer a nice insulated bag for $.99 that we bought that we do like, but we didn't like having to just pay for your typical brown paper bags.
C. Check the expiration date on things!

Lazy Memorial Weekend

Usually, in the mornings, as soon as S wakes up, I get her dressed and we head to the gym. However, on the weekends, we take it a bit slower as we get ready. Here is S playing and still in her pajamas on Saturday morning.

On Sunday afternoon, M and S fell asleep on the couch. It was WONDERFUL!!!! They slept there for about 2 hours which gave me 2 WHOLE HOURS to myself for the afternoon! What a great surprise:)

Knight Rider!

So, here are the pictures of the Knight Rider himself! The way they were scanned in doesn't allow me to flip the one on the left. However, I think you can see it okay!

Growing up, David's sister, Joyce, lived not far from us. Joyce's daugher, Alexis, and my brother and I were not too far apart in age. Our families got to know each other and went to each others' birthday parties, etc. David's parents also lived close by. I am pretty sure that the first picture is of David at his parents' home, but I might be wrong (mom??).

Now, do you believe me?!?!?! :) It's true!

Top row: my mom, me, Joyce (David's sister)

Middle row: Philippe (David's brother in law), Alexis (David's niece), a girl that lived next door to Alexis, Robert (my brother), my dad

Bottom row: David Hasselhoff (holding Nuff-Nuff)

Guess What I Wore to the Mall

If you said POOP, you're right!

I had change a dirty (VERY dirty) diaper before I left. I didn't realize I had it all down the side of me until I was in the changing room. How embarrassing - but what can you do!?!?!?

Oh, the joys of motherhood!

Our First Kiddie Bday Party

This weekend was Shortcake's first birthday party. This is the first kid's birthday party S or I have been to (M was stuck taking down trees, so he still hasn't been to a kid's party). It was a lot of fun to see all the other kids and parents there. Too bad we were too late to see Shortcake eat her cake. I did get to see pictures, though! Shortcake's parents did a great job with the party!!

The Time Has Come... (UPDATED)

for S to take a bottle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tomorrow we are going to conquer this - I am determined! Say a prayer for us, because I have a feeling it is going to be a VERY rough day!

UPDATE: Well, she did it!!!!! Friday morning when she woke up I went in with a bottle and she took it no problem - about 5oz, but she is now taking 6-8oz per feeding. Friday afternoon she went about 7 hours before she would take it, but was happy and content so we didn't worry too much. But, I tell ya, after 7 hours she was STARVING and drank the entire bottle and polished off some serious baby food. I think both me and her were ready for the bottle!!! YAY:) FREEDOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Family Fest

M, S and I went downtown on Friday for the annual Family Fest activities. Our friend and her daughter joined us while her husband was travelling. We got there right as they were starting and not too many people were out yet! But, it filled up quickly. There were bands playing (quite loudly - I must be getting old!!) and vendors selling food and what not! It felt good to get outside for the evening and do something a bit different.

Carl Sandburg Home

There is an eagle in me that wants to soar and there is a hippopotamus in me that wants to wallow in the mud. ~Carl Sandburg

This past weekend we went to the Carl Sandburg Home in Flat Rock, NC. It was a gorgeous day and we really did have a great time! S LOVED looking at the goats - I guess they are just like dogs as far as she is concerned!

S loves looking at the ground for some reason!

We put the hat on her to keep the sun off of her head-of-little-hair, but she was more interested in eating it than wearing it. Didn't last too long, but we tried!!

Mommy and me:)

This goat was SO cute (yes, I really think goats are cute!). It was only a month old and they had it on a LEASH!!!! Crazy!

Happy Mother's Day!

To all the moms who read this blog - and the moms-to-be!!!

This is my first official mother's day. Last year I was pregnant with S, but was told by my husband that that doesn't count. He obviously has never been pregnant!!!!

Anyway - M did great today and got a card and gift for this mommy! I was very impressed!

I have loved being a mom, most days...hehe, and love my daughter and husband more and more each day! Today we are taking it easy which is a wonderful change of pace for us! I did go to Cold Stone and get a free cup of ice cream since they were offering it to moms - couldn't resist:)

Here is a email that made it to my inbox that I really liked and wanted to share (I'm sure most people have seen it by now, but oh well!)

Before I was a Mom,
I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never been puked on.
Pooped on.
Chewed on.
Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts.
I slept all nights.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held down a screaming childso doctors could do tests.
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put her down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so smallco uld affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom,
I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body.
I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache, the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much, before I was a Mom.

Charleston

Well, the much anticipated weekend in Charleston was this past weekend! I had a bachelorette party and shower for one of my good friends from college. So, Saturday afternoon, off I go - with M and S in tow!

We had a great dinner in downtown Charleston on John Street and sat outside to enjoy the warm weather. I was able to stay for appetizers, but had to leave to go feed and put S to bed during dinner (I was stuffed from appetizers anyway so it was all good!!). I did, however, miss a HUGE SURPRISE!!! Just after everyone had finished eating dinner, out of nowhere, a dead baby bird comes crashing down onto the table! All of the girls screamed, jumped up, and ran from the table! Definitely wish I could have been there for that!!!

Then it was back to the hotel for chocolate fondue and a shower to make the bride-to-be blush! It was fun and she did get some really cute little "outfits":)

On Sunday we had a shower and it was BEAUTIFUL!! One of our other friends' mom had it at her house. Her house is gorgeous!!!

All in all it was a great weekend and S did VERY VERY well travelling with us!

Can't wait for the wedding next month:)
