Oil Change

The kids and I went to get my oil changed today!  All started out well, with free breakfast food and coffee and a kids room.  Both kids ate a banana, pop tart, cinnamon roll and a package of fruit snacks.  After which, they played nice and quiet... for about 10 minutes.  Then, as you can imagine, the sugar rush hit them like a ton of bricks!!  They were running, shrieking and having an all around fabulous time, although I'm not sure anybody trying to get any work done at Toyota would agree:)  They had fun, there was no crying, everyone was fed for "free" so I'll call it a successful morning(I don't set especially high standards these days - let's just survive, HA!  I'm more of the realistic thinking!)!

Teaching Baby Jesus

S loves to teach C!  She is constantly trying to get him to pay attention long enough to listen to her which happens on rare occasions:)  Tonight, though, she found something that really interested him and that would be Baby Jesus in the manger.  One of her jewelry boxes has the scene on it and she did such a great job as she patiently explained to him what it was and he listened very intently!  I love it that she is sharing Jesus with her little brother!

Snow Fest

A few months ago I bought 2 kids passes to Snow Fest at the Pavilion. With these passes, each kid gets to play in the bounce house, ice skate, ride George the Train and gets a popcorn and a Slush Puppy! All for $6.50 each! Now, if you ask me, this is pretty awesome!! Snow Fest is only on Fridays and the train only operates from April - October. That being said, I needed to get this done before October but S will have school on Fridays starting after Labor Day which now gives me only a month. Take into account that we have two trips still to take this month and I was running out of time! Our plans for this morning didn't happen, so what better way to spend the morning than at Snow Fest!

Let me tell you, there were no less than five daycares there in addition to the other general public. But, somehow, someway, we managed to avoid them all and had next to nobody with us while we bounced and skated and did not have to wait in line for the train or to get our treats at the end! I am not exactly sure how we pulled this off, but I am grateful that we did!

The kids were amazingly well-behaved all morning, with no fighting(a miracle these days!) and listened and best of all they had an absolute blast! And, I did too! Watching them experience fun things and enjoy themselves brings me such joy(especially at the low low price of $13 - HA!)!

We had a great morning, C "ice skated" and ate popcorn for the first time and both kids had their first Slush Puppies. Now, how do I explain that we do not get to do all of this everytime we go!?!?

Because...

I haven't taken pictures of my kids in FOUR days!  GASP!!:)  Trampoline jumping with a friend, sailing our homemade "boat" and then looking at the fish at the lake and "camping"!

Birthday Parties - Belle and Gems

Today we celebrated two of our best friends' birthdays!
I took S to Tessa's 5th birthday party where we celebrated princess style! S wore her Aurora dress and later changed into Rapunzel. The girls enjoyed a fancy tea party, a visit from Belle who did their make-up, read them a story, sang songs and was generally awesome with all of the little princesses:) It was a nice change for me to be able to enjoy the party without having to chase a 2-year-old around! The girls had a GREAT time and no detail was overlooked for Princess Tessa's 5th birthday! I was so glad we could be there and I know S loved every minute of it!

While we were partying with the girls, M took C to Davis's 3rd birthday party where they got to mine for gems! Right here in downtown Greenville - who knew?!?! Water, rocks, pizza and cake, what more could a little boy ask for??  The boys came back with full bellies and huge bags of gems that they collected while "mining"!  It was great that the gems were large enough for C to find and handle so that he was able to participate and help Daddy do it and rather than just watch!  What a fun place for a birthday party!!
Happy birthday to Tessa and Davis!!!!

Riverbanks Zoo

Today the kids and I took a road trip to Columbia to Riverbanks Zoo! This zoo is so much bigger than the one in Greenville and has so many more animals and attractions!

We left at 7:10am(I actually had to wake both kids up - yuck!) and got there right at 9am when they were opening! The heat index was predicted to be 103(and by the feel of it they were right on!) so I knew we had to get an early start! The animals were all out before it got too warm and we were able to see a lot of them in action!

Both kids walked a lot and I only had them run in opposite directions twice - thank goodness C is good about staying with me most of the time because his sister has never been the best in this area!

I think all of our favorite parts were feeding the giraffes! Both of the kids got into it and were loving giving them some lettuce and watching as the giraffe's tongues took it and "tickled their hands" when the did! We managed to skirt around the pony rides and choo-choo train(thankfully!) and see the rest of the animals. Other big hits were the apes on Ape Island spinning in their hammocks, petting the bunny at the farm, the big fish at the aquarium, the gorilla coming right up next to the viewing glass only to give us a good look at his backside(HA!) and the baby koala snuggled up in its momma's pouch! We rode the carousel, ate lunch, played on the playground,  walked across the river to check out the gardens since we didn't do that last year when we came, saw that the gardens were UP hill, reconsidered the need to see the gardens, turned right back around, walked back across the bridge, took one last potty break and headed for the car where we thoroughly sanitized our hands!:)

OH FUN DAY!!!
