Having a Blast at the Grandparent's House

S LOVES going to Grandmamma and Granddaddy's house, and I LOVE being able to drop her off:) My MIL gave me a CD recently with pictures of their adventures. No wonder she enjoys going to visit, it is non-stop fun!

Happy Spring

Today is the first official day of Spring even though the last few days have been warmer than it is today. I'm not complaining, though, because it is still beautiful outside and I'm loving it! I changed out S's clothes this morning and put away all her winter clothes(quite a daunting task!). I am ready for new and bright summer outfits:)

My sweet girl in her favorite chair(notice the 2 bow trend again!).

This afternoon we burned off some energy at a new park, well new for me anyway. It was a great choice b/c it is fenced in and the kiddos can't escape:) The only downside is that S could see the "big kid playground" from inside the "little kid playground" and was frustrated that she couldn't get to it. But, once she realized that she could have fun on the little kid playground, she was good to go!
Lovin' the playground!

A bit of static action!

Dentist

Last week I took S to the dentist for the first time. I was absolutely dreading it! If you know my child, you know she does NOT like to sit still and be confined. I was nervous that she would throw a fit and get her eye poked out by the tooth scraper!!

When we arrived, she had a great time playing with all the video games. Didn't have a clue how to work any of them, but she had fun nonetheless. Emily, the hygentist, was GREAT!! She did a wonderful job with S. She wasn't too thrilled about the cleaning, but she only cried a little bit and didn't flap her arms and resist like I thought she would. Afterward, S was given a toothbrush (and kept it in her mouth for the remainder of the day which I don't understand as she gets her teeth brushed twice a day as it is so it was nothing new to her), a toy car and a balloon. I would not let her have an ice cream b/c it was about lunch time and I have enough trouble getting her to eat without ruining it with sweets - go ahead, call me mean!
Anyway, it was a good first visit and S walked out with a smile on her face! Thanks Emily and Dr.Mark:)

Happy St. Patricks Day!

So, I had a hard time finding green for S to wear today (wouldn't want her getting pinched at PDO!). Her closet has plenty of pinks and purples to go around, but green is a bit harder to come by. Her spring and summer clothes that I've already purchase (and am dying to put her in - get warm already!) have plenty of color variety but we had to settle for a very interesting green ensemble this morning.
PS - Do you see the 2 bows in her hair? She insisted on both of them. She is getting quite particular in what she wears these days - including shoes, bows, stickers on both hands at all times, etc. If this is 17 months, I think I am in trouble:)

One Dirty Kid

Today, between an afternoon of playing in the sandbox and an evening of outdoor family time, S was one dirty kid!! I don't know if you can tell it in this picture, but her white shirt was almost completely brown. I took her shoes off and her feet were covered with bark and grass and she was travelling w/ half the sandbox in the bottom of her shoes. When M went to give her a bath tonight, he had to wash her hair(what little there is) several times to get all the grit and sand out. She's just like her mommy and daddy - we love getting dirty! But, I've got to go to Walmart and get some cheapo play clothes!

We did spend a little time indoors as well to break things up a bit. We played with blocks and S fed and loved on her bear!

It was a really good day today:)

Spring Fever

This weekend was a such a contrast from last weekend! It was beautiful!!! I wish I had taken more pictures, but I was kinda slack about it until Sunday night.

Starting on Thursday, the weather just got better and better. S and I hit up a great local playground on Thursday and again on Friday. M was able to join us Friday after work and see what a fun time S has in the playground, on the swings and sliding down the slides! She climbs up all by herself and then slides down and I don't have to catch her. I just stand at the bottom and watch her - she's getting so independent!

On Saturday, we switched it up a bit and went to an elementary school to avoid the crowds at the county/city parks. DEFINITELY a better option. However, you can imagine our surprise when we discovered the only 2 other families there were B and D!! So fun to watch their boys be crazy and S trying to keep up:)

Tonight, after dinner we headed outside to play with bubbles and Abby. S enjoyed playing with the bubbles (and to my amazement knew what they were - someone else obviously blows bubbles for her!) but then decided it was more fun to throw the ball for Abby!

Daddy trying to get S to blow the bubbles herself. She didn't quite get it.

So much fun chasing the bubbles! I don't know who had more fun chasing them around, S or Abby:)

S loved, loved, loved telling Abby what to do!!! She's seen us command Abby enough, that she knows how to do it (although Abby really doesn't listen to her). S would get the ball from Abby and then throw it for her. Once Abby got the ball, she wasn't just going to give it up w/o a fight. That's part of the game for her! S would chase her around clapping her hands saying "dog, dog!" She learned this from watching me call Abby back to the house when I can't find her! It was so much fun!

Throwing the ball for Abby.

We did have one little mishap while we were out tonight. Our water spigot was a loose and leaking so M went to fix it. S being very intrigued by this sat right at his feet. Well, something went wrong and instead of turning the water off, it was turned on and POURING out of the spigot!! S was getting drenched (and loving it of course) and we couldn't get the water off or her away from it! It was very humorous and I wish I'd gotten a video of just how fast this water was coming out, but at least I got a picture.

M had just turned the water off here so this is the last bit coming out of the spigot. You can't tell it here, but S is so wet!

With summer coming, we are going to push S's bedtime back a bit so we are able to get outside after dinner as often as we can while the weather is warm and it is still light out! I'm very much looking forward to this time together as a family:)

Blizzard 2009

Well, it wasn't really a blizzard, but we did get 4" of snow last night!!

This is the most snow I've seen in a while! It started last night and since we already had plans to grill out before we knew the weather forecast, we went on as planned. M ended up grilling as it came down really hard! S was really interested as she was watching this crazy white stuff falling from the sky (she has seen flurries before but this was different b/c these flakes were really big!).

This morning, M and I went outside before S woke up and took a look around. It was like a winter wonderland. Abby LOVED it and romped and played like a puppy! Then, M had to go to work - UGGG!!! Good thing he has a big ol' truck that made it through the snow with no problems. S and I are holding down the fort and trying to stay warm this afternoon. Call me a mean mommy, but I don't think I'm going to take S out in it today except maybe to just get a picture or two.

We'll have a lazy day inside today!

Date Night

We were able to have a much needed date night on Friday!! We went downtown to an oyster bar and enjoyed a quiet dinner with just the 2 of us!
