Camps - Dance, Nerf and Soccer

Over the past few weeks, the kids have been in a few camps.

S started dance intensive two weeks ago!  It is a grueling 7+ hours a day of dancing!  She enjoyed it, but I think she will be glad to have a rest before classes start again in a few weeks!

Musical theater - S's favorite!

Snack time!

C had a Nerf Battles camp at a new-to-us place, Christ Church Episcopal School, and loved it!  It was a good change of pace for him!

And, the past three days, C has been at soccer team camp twice a day as a pre-season training opportunity and a chance to meet his teammates!  Next... vacation!!

The Road to C&C Weekend

We found out Sunday night after a call from our coaches that the kids had both made it to Championships and Classics(C&C) based on how they swam at Divisionals!

S made it to Championships in butterfly and both the medley and freestyle relays.C made it to Classics in short free, IM, breaststoke and his freestyle relay(their medley relay would have made it too if they had not gotten DQ).

On Monday morning, the coaches visit everyone's houses who make it to C&C and wake them up!  We have lived too far away the past couple of years for the coaches to make the trip, so this was our first time experiencing the wake up!  C was of course already awake(such the early riser!), but they truly woke S up!  Then, they all met up at the pool for doughnuts and celebrations.  I wasn't able to join the kids because I had to work, but the sitter took the kids.

Waking S up

C joining them since he was already up anyway;)

All week C has continued to have two practices each day, but S started dance intensive straight from the doughnuts on Monday and has only been able to join the team at the practice that was held Thursday night at the Westside Aquatic Center.  After the practice, the team all went to Yogurt Mountain!

Finally Saturday afternoon arrived for S's Championships meet!  After a week of dance intensive 7 hours a day and spending the night off the night before and then having a ballet class right before the meet, her body was not in its best shape to compete in the meet.  BUT, she showed up and did a great job! She didn't shave any time in her events, but that's ok!  It was great to watch her enjoy the day and the honor of being at the meet regardless of the outcome!

Medley Relay(she swam fly) 7th place
Butterfly 40.01 21st place
Free Relay 3rd place

Sunday afternoon it was C's turn in the pool at Classics!  He's been practicing all week and has been doing what he needed to do to prepare for the meet and it showed!  He shaved time in all of his events and was very proud of himself(as he should be!).

Short Free 16.06 7th (he was REALLY wanting to get under 16 seconds!)
IM 1:39.68 14th place
Breast 21.33 4th place
Free Relay 7th place

Swim Banquet

Tonight was the luau-themed banquet for the end of the swim season celebration!  Typically it is held indoors, but this year the SAIL reps have been having all events outdoors, so it was in the parking lot of the clubhouse and as much as I thought it was going to be hot and miserable(or storming!), it ended up being quite nice!  The trees provided shade by the time the event started and the kids didn't have to be near as still and quiet!  I liked it, but I sure am glad I wasn't the one planning it!  We ate dinner, the coaches gave out awards and then we watched the end of the year video with pictures and videos from the entire season!  Both kids earned Iron Man again this year and C got the MVP award for 9/10 Boys meaning he earned the most points for his age group over the entire season!  It was a good night with our swim team friends!!

Lake Day - Surfing and Tubing

We spent a couple of hours at the lake today and C tried, and succeeded, at surfing behind the boat!  It was really too rough out on the water to do any wakeboarding, but it was perfect for some tubing!
