On the Phone

Here is S talking to Cousin Jack!! So sweet! They were being so silly:) I do think that they could have talked for hours and not gotten tired of it!

Art and the Park!

Today was a great day of family time! We did some painting in the morning! S loves to paint, and we found out that C does too, only he prefers to paint with his fingers on the blinds - yikes that kid is a handful!

We then took, on M's suggestion, a picnic to the park! We played and played and then ate our lunch. For the first time in his life, C was able to sit at the big picnic table and eat like a big boy instead of having to have his meal while sitting contained in his stroller. Not a 100% success, but it wasn't too awful. It was definitely good to have two adults to help him rather than just me wrangling him onto his seat and keeping him there. He likes to climb up in the chairs(and then onto the table!!!) in our kitchen so I know it won't be long before he will refuse to sit in his highchair and eat. Oh boy! Look out!!! And, I can't forget to point out S's very eclectic look:) She very much enjoys picking out her own clothes and today was no exception! Not exactly my first choice, but she was happy with it! She doesn't like to wear jeans or khakis, so if she can't wear a a dress, she wants to wear "soft pants". And, then there is her mommy, who could live in jeans - and in fact I pretty much do during fall/winter/spring! Yay for a stay-at-home dress code!

Do you remember the tractor that has been in several pictures since Christmas. Yeah, it has been hanging out in our driveway for 1.5 months. Well, today M finally took it back to its home but don't fear, we now have a motor grader in our front yard! We are THAT family:) He did need to fix our "driveway" and it was also a thrill for the entire street! All the kids got rides and all the neighbors came out to see it - even our housebound neighbor whom we haven't seen in a very very long time was able to come out and enjoy the excitement! Nothing like an impromptu block party:)

For dinner we went to our friends' house and enjoyed a very yummy dinner! The girls did their own thing princess style and C was pretty good too! It was great to eat in their new home and see Amanda's little baby boy bump:)

AWESOME Saturday!!!

Doughnuts for Dad

Today was S's school's Doughnuts for Dad day! OH.MY.GOODNESS!! This little girl was sooo excited and soooo proud to have her daddy there with her!:) She says that they both ate TWO doughnuts and that he read her lots of books and played puzzles! There's just something about a Daddy spending such sweet time with his baby girl!

GattiTown

We celebrated Cousin Connor's 1st birthday party at GattiTown! It was a blast - although I again wish I had a pedometer to see how far I walk/run following my boy around! We enjoyed pizza, cake and presents! S loved watching a little friend there play on the iPhone and C helped with the presents:)

We also played some video games, rode some little ride things and rode the merry-go-round about a gazillion times!! I'm getting old, because I get motion sick on those things now. Uggg... And I know there are many many more times around in my future:) It's worth it, though, as much as both kids LOVE it!

We ran into the Bobbies there which was a very fun surprise for S! They were celebrating Tessa's 1/2 birthday! Good timing for the girls:)

Happy Birthday Cousin Connor and Happy 1/2 Birthday Miss Tessa!!

The Princess and the Redneck

This morning S wanted to wear a dress, as she does every single day, and lots of jewelry (which has also become quite a frequent request!). She is an all around girly-girl princess and I love it!And, on the opposite extreme, I dressed C in a pair of Carhartt overalls for the first time with a thermal Bass Pro Shop onesie underneath. Oh did he look redneck!!! But, he loved it and first thing he did was to stick his hands in his pockets as he strutted around the house. Oh, it was a trip!!:)

Here We Come

What's more fun than taking rides on a blanket around and around and around the house!?!?! We took turns pulling the kids and S did a lot of pulling C-man. Although, he did end up finding it more fun to have S run with the blanket trailing behind her, then he would run to catch up, jump on the blanket as it was moving, and fall splat on his bottom. Why are boys like this!?!?!

It doesn't get much better than watching and laughing with your kids as they enjoy being together!

Say Say My Playmate

The kids love to be outside and what better excuse to go out on the deck and play than while Daddy tries out the new grill!?!?!

Gymboree

I purchased a LivingSocial deal for 5 classes at Gymboree for only $30!! I was so excited to have something that I could do with C while S was in school:) We've been twice now and he has absolutely loved it and so have I! It's too bad it is so stinkin' expensive to continue to go each week! We'll be starting back at the library for the Bouncing Babies program after this deal ends!

Unrealistically Optimistic

This morning both kids wanted to wear their winter coats and gloves... too bad the forecast is calling for upper-50s!!

Ready!!

S usually wakes up and comes out in her jammies and then it takes a while before she's ready to "get ready for her day" as we call it. But, this morning, she was up and came out ready to go to dance class:)!!!

Langston Family Reunion 2012

Yesterday we made the 2.5 hour drive to the reunion, stayed 4.5 hours and then drove home! I'm not going to say we weren't all exhausted when our heads finally hit our pillows, but we did have an absolutely, positively wonderful time! The kids were as good as we could have expected them to be(and maybe a bit more!) and we enjoyed visiting with with M's family so much! I had to draw a family tree on the drive home because I'm tired of not knowing who is who and how everyone is related.

S and C were the youngest ones there by several years and they both loved hanging out with the big kids - particularly S! There was a 7 week old puppy that one of the little girls had and she was inseparable from that dog the entire time we were there until they took the dog up to the house! After that she was content with throwing hazelnut shells in the water and watching in awe as William called the cows down from the fields. UNREAL!!

C was enthralled by the pond(which he constantly was running towards!), Walter's truck(he can actually pick the correct truck key out of about 20 on a key ring every time and get it IN the ignition and then tried to put it gear. It won't be long before he is able to crank it up and do some damage!)and checking out the cows! I love that we are able to have a build a relationship with family and hope that we can make a trip down there before the next reunion next year!! SO special for us and our kids!

A funny story! On the way home, M is driving and we are not quite to Clinton, SC yet and he looks at the gas gauge and says "Oh wow! We need gas!". We check the range(how many miles our car says until we are out of gas and it reads "0"!!!!!! OH.MY.GOODNESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We look around and there is N.O.T.H.I.N.G. in sight! I start trying to do the Flintstone method of using my feet to run against the floorboard - to no avail! M slows down to about 55mph and starts putting the car in neutral when we go down hills. We went about 4-5 more miles (just so you know, even if the gauge says you are out of gas, the gas light is on and your range is 0 you can still apparently go a little further!) and were giddy when we saw a sign for a BP gas station! We must have gotten there on fumes and God's mercy because the tank was bone dry!! We were so thankful to not be out of gas and stranded on the road with our babies! God surely watched over us yesterday!
