Happy Halloween:)

This has been a very rainy and dreary Halloween. But, the clouds broke and the rain stopped just long enough for us to go to a local church's fall festival. Last year S went to a fall festival she couldn't really do too much, but this year was a completely different story! She went on the huge inflatable slide(what else is new for this kid?!?!), ate hot dogs and suckers and had her first piece of a chocolate candy bar(pretty much INHALED it), "drove" the firetruck, went "trunk or treating" and rode the train all by herself!!! Then, as soon as we left, it started raining again. At least we got our Halloween fix:)

Decorating the Pumpkin

Our neighbors gave me a good idea to paint our pumpkin instead of carving it! S LOVED doing it and it was much quicker and cleaner than carving it. A hit all the way around:)

Doing Hair

Tonight Daddy and S were taking turns brushing and blow-drying the other's hair. Too cute!:)

Daddy's New Employee

The other night, M came in and took off the long-sleeve shirt he was wearing over his short-sleeve shirt. S wanted to put it on! Then, she wanted him to take his short-sleeve shirt off. Okay, so he did and she put it on. Then, she wanted him to take off his belt. Okay, so he did and she put it on. Then, she wanted him to take off his pants. Okay, he had to draw the line at that one!! She LOVED dressing up in daddy's clothes:)

Just so you know, this is what S's hair looks like if there is not a bow or rubber band in it - scary, eh!??! In the last couple of days, she has been really into pulling out whatever I happen to have in her hair but throws a fit when her hair gets in her eyes because the bow or band is out! The joys of reasoning w/ a two-year-old!

Rain, Rain Go Away

It feels as if it has been raining non-stop for the last MONTH!!!! But, even though we have not been able to go out and play much, it did give me a good excuse to dress S in her raincoat:)

Fall for Greenville

We went to Fall for Greenville on Saturday thinking that it would be a lot of fun for S and that she would really enjoy it. And, she may have, but decided that she wasn't going to nap that day and was pretty much a basket-case while we were there. Oh well! It was good food, though, and we enjoyed running into some friends down there. As we were leaving, we stopped at Piazza Bergamo for a little play time which she did enjoy! At least we had a good ending to an otherwise rough day!

I Have a Two Year Old!

Today is S's 2nd birthday! Craziness!! We had her party last weekend, but I wanted to celebrate a bit today too.

I went in her room to wake her up this morning singing Happy Birthday and she told me to go away! Gotta love it! I hated having to wake her up, especially on her birthday, but we had to get to her 2 year appt. Yes, I know, that was mean to make her have shots on her birthday. Just go ahead and give me the mom of the year award now! She did GREAT, though, and hardly even cried w/ the shots (thanks to the lollipop!).

Here are her stats:

Height: 35in (81%tile)
Weight: 24lb 6oz(20%tile)

After our appt we headed over to Nivens Farms. We went on a hayride, picked apples, played on the playground, petted the animals and bought a pumpkin. Nothing says fall more than that!! When we got hungry, we went down the street to Cracker Barrel and had a pancake lunch(I was hoping M would be around to meet us for lunch, but it didn't quite work out.) Needless to say, after such a busy morning both Mommy and S needed to come home and take a nap!

After dinner tonight we gave S her final birthday present, a tricycle. I've been looking for one for a few months and Craigslist finally came through! She liked it and asked immediately for her helmet. Nope, didn't think to get one of those! She got that from Elmo, I think. She was able to pedal a little bit, but mostly I had to push her. She'll get it eventually!

And, after a full day of celebrating, we put our sweet little 2-year-old to bed!!

Happy, happy birthday, S!

My Sweet Girls

S LOVES Abby! Although, I'm not so sure the feeling is mutual. Abby is a good sport about enduring the torture:)

The Party

On Saturday afternoon, all the guests arrived around 4pm for the party festivities! We are so blessed to have family that will make the drive to help us celebrate! We first went down to the lake to take pictures and then came back to the cabin for cooking out, cake and presents. I could not have asked for a better day! The weather was gorgeous, the company was wonderful and S put on a show of a true birthday princess!! Everything turned out so well and we all had a great time celebrating S's 2nd birthday:)

2nd Birthday Weekend

This weekend we celebrated S's 2nd birthday! We rented a cabin for the weekend on Lake Jocassee. S and I went up Friday afternoon and Daddy came a bit later that evening. On Saturday night we had all the grandparents and aunts and uncles up for her party. It was an awesome, awesome, awesome weekend and may very well become a tradition!

S did GREAT both nights and slept like a champ! Usually, when we are away from home, the first night is a bit trying for us. We woke up to a chilly morning and spent some time just relaxing and reading before heading out for a walk to the lake. The view from the cabin was amazing and the day could not have been any more beautiful and crisp!!

The World of Energy at the Duke nuclear station was hosting a hunting and fishing expo that day. S went fishing for the first time! It was so cute!! She didn't catch anything, but one of the rangers got a fish hooked for her and let her reel it in. Very sweet! Once he got the hook out of the mouth for her, S was all about petting the fish (thank goodness for Purel). She now does a great "hooked fish" impression where she hooks her finger into her mouth as if she has been caught, then throws her arms up and says "splash!"(we threw her fish back in after we'd taken a picture so that is where the splash comes from).
