March Pictures

It was a cold night for baseball practice, so I watched from the car!

With the talk about corona virus starting escalate and Disney
just announced it's closed through the end of March, we
bought these to make us feel a little better that our
trip may very well be cancelled over Spring Break!

M got back from a week in Las Vegas and showed us pictures
and loved to tell us all about the Hoover Dam.

By this point we were all social distancing.  The kids made
batch two of their cookies!

Toilet paper is scarce right now, so when I saw online that
Target had some in stock, I sent M there to get some when
they first opened on a Sunday morning.  He said there was a
line waiting for them to open the doors and that every person
went straight for the TP!

I cleaned out my closet! Managed to get an entire truck load of
JUNK out of it and there was still plenty in there!

All restaurants that are still trying to stay in business that don't have drive thoughs
are being creative and opening curb side!  We visited Tandem and they
had a super cute VW bus that they were serving out of!

We were starving and couldn't wait until we got home to
eat but these crepes were messy, so we stopped at a park and the
kids ate in the bed of the truck before jumping/rolling
down the hills - C had to come home and shower because
of the grass itch!

We picked up a pizza-making kit from Plate 108.

Such a sweet note in the box!

I've spent a lot of time on the front porch and caught some
doves making a nest, just like they do every year!

Kayaking at Lake Keowee

We spent the afternoon up at the lake because really there isn't too much else to do that allows us to get out of the house!  We brought the kayak and the kids could have stayed and explored in it forever!  M and I took a spin too, but mostly fished(but didn't catch anything!) while the kids took the kayak.  At the very end, C was brave enough to submerge all but his head in the lake and determined that it was still pretty darn cold!  We will probably be spending a lot of time at the dock over the next month or two!

S was able to join a Zoom meeting with her life group while
we were there!

Social Distancing - Week 2

Well, here goes week #2!

Monday - I had to work(paying people and bills and getting deposits made are essential to a lot of people!) and thankfully it was a rainy day so M was able to take both of the kids with him!  I finished up and swung by to get the kids and take them home.  S's dance studio is starting classes with Zoom and although we weren't home in time for one of her ballet classes, she was able to get on for her contemporary class and absolutely loved getting back into it and seeing all her classmates!  M came home and started painting the upstairs hallway to have it ready to put on the market soon.  Meanwhile, C is learning to sharpen knife blades and playing Legos at the same time!  After dinner, I brought out a new game for the kids, Scrabble, and taught them to play!  They loved it!

Tuesday - We had internet issues all day!  And it rained all day!  And we were all home all day!  Today was totally not a favorite for any of us!  Thankfully, Aunt Jennifer let them in another art class while I prepped dinner and kept them thoroughly entertained with drawings using perspective and they made a game using a shoebox.  The rain FINALLY let up after dinner and the kids took playing cards and put them in the spokes of their bikes so that they sounded like "motorcycles"!  As soon as we put the kids to bed, I was only about 15 minutes behind them.  Unfortunately, M was up to about midnight because he was painting the stairs which took longer than he thought, then he slipped down the stairs while carrying paint and it went EVERYWHERE!  What a mess!  It looked good in the end though!

Wednesday - We are still having internet issues and the kids had to use my phone's hot spot to get some work done in the morning.  We had to brave the grocery store for a few things(couldn't find paper towels or frozen fruit), swung by the school for the kids' lunches, stopped in at Dollar General and found paper towels(whoop!) and came home to eat lunch and let the kids get some outside time in since it is finally sunny for the first time since Saturday.  While the kids practiced their instruments, did their chores and played quiet games alone(we all need some alone time throughout the day!), I waited on hold to talk to Charter about our internet issues.  I waited 2 HOURS and they never came on the line!  Such a mess!!  By this time, I needed to get some fresh air, so the kids and I took a bike ride through the trail, came home and did a scavenger hunt S had created, threw the baseball and then came on in so I could get dinner ready.  The kids pulled out a puzzle and started working on it and I cleaned S's room - she's such a pack rat!!!  M had also been painting the house in order to get it ready to put on the market in the next couple of weeks (assuming we are allowed to even do that!?!?).

Thursday - I think the newness and novelty of homeschooling is beginning to wear off!  We pushed through today!  I went for a run around the neighborhood, while the kids rode their bikes.  The kids both had Google Meets with the teachers and classmates which was nice for them to have a little interaction!  We had the real estate agents over to walk through the house with us to see what else we needed to get done.  The yard got mulched.  We finished the puzzle that we started yesterday.  And, thankfully, we survived!!

This little dove made an appearance at my kitchen window!

First Google Meet for C's class!

Finished puzzle!
I didn't know M was taking this picture, but this is
about where we are at right now!  LOL!

Friday - We skipped school to go hiking!

Saturday - Because the kids and I went hiking yesterday, and M was already planning to work today, we treated today as a school day.  The kids started their morning school session while I went to the grocery store.  This was the most stocked I've seen it since all of this Corona stuff started, but still they were out of toilet paper and paper towels!  And, I stopped for gas as the grocery store gas station and I have earned so much back with the amount of groceries we've been going through, and I haven't had to fill up with gas in a while, so I was able to get 20 gallons of gas for FREE!  Woohoo!!  When I got home, we spent some time outside riding scooters, C trying to start fires and playing soccer.
Morning puzzles!

Starting fires!

Free gas - they had to charge like 2 cents, but that is essentially free!

Jones Gap Hiking and S'mores

The kids and I have started feeling the weight of all the work that we are having to do at the house, so I called a hookie day and we headed to Jones Gap State Park for some hiking!  Little did we know, until we got home, that this would be the last day that SC state parks would be open due to Corona!  SO glad that we went when we did!

The kids were glad to get out of the house and just climb rocks and enjoy nature!  They both talked non-stop for the entire hike to Jones Gap Falls!  We were there really early and I believe the first to the falls for the day!  It's about a 3.5 mile hike total and every second of it was enjoyable!

This afternoon C and I collected sticks to use in the chiminea so that we could roast s'mores tonight after dinner while S had a two hour Zoom ballet class!  The wind picked up a lot and it made the fire hard to get going, but C was determined and the kids ate their s'mores and played frisbee golf while M and I sat around the fire!

We are all tired after this week, and this was a good way to end it!
