Southern Hospitality:)

This weekend Michael and I went to Charleston to visit a couple of my girlfriends, Lee and Shelley, from Clemson. It was SO GOOD to see them!! The last time I got to visit with them was last summer and it was far past time for us to get together again! One of our other girlfriends, Melanie, who lives in New Jersey was going to come for the weekend as well, but her flight got cancelled and was not able to make it. We missed her, but definitely look forward to seeing her soon!! We had a great meal at Lee and Shelley's apartment on Friday night (thanks girls and Stuart!), beached it on Saturday afternoon, shopped in downtown and went to Sullivan's Island for dinner Saturday night. I couldn't have asked for a better time:)

At the beach:

Playing a game (I don't feel comfortable mentioning the name of the game in blogworld, so we'll call it 'Horse'!!):

Happy Birthday, Meme!!:)

I feel like I should give a birthday shout out to a very special lady. Not that she reads blogs, but it is definitely worth noting in my opinion that today Michael's grandmother, Meme, turns 90 years old!!!! If you met her, you would never know she was 90. She is constantly on the go, has TONS of friends whom she is always doing something with (so many in fact that she has birthday activites planned for over a week!) and WALKED to church on Wednesday because her ride was unable to take her! I only hope that I am as full of energy as she is when I am 90:)

I don't have a current picture, but here is Meme at Christmas with the family and surrounded by presents!

Date Night

Yay! Tonight is date night! We don't do these regularly (although I think we probably will establish a date night once the baby comes) so this is a real treat:) We are going to Saskatoon's. We have only been there once before, about 3 years ago, and loved it! They have an exotic selection of game to choose from, but I have a feeling I'll stick with something simple like chicken:) TGIF!!!!!!

What have you done for me?

This is the question that is weighing on mine and M’s heart and mind! What have we done for Christ?!?! We have been blessed in so many ways by our gracious Lord with each other, a baby on the way, our family, friends, health, jobs, minds, etc. The list goes on and on and on…. We know we are undeservingly blessed, yet what have we done for God? We are called to further His kingdom while keeping the “one thing” that is needed according to Luke at the core. How do we do this in our daily lives? Honestly, and ashamedly, we don’t!

"Duty can pack an adequate sack lunch, but love may decide to enclose a little love note inside… Obligation sends the children to bed on time, but love tucks the covers in around their necks and passes out kisses and hugs… Duty gets offended quickly if it isn’t appreciated, but love learns to laugh a lot and to work for the sheer joy of doing it. Obligation can pour a glass of milk, but quite often, love adds a little chocolate."
- From Love Adds a Little Chocolate by Linda Andersen

What an awesome description of love and the way that Jesus lived his life. Again and again, he went beyond the call of duty and acted out of love. He went out of His way to minister. Instead of guarding his life, Jesus gave it away. We need to serve and love in the way that Jesus did. A true passion for God will naturally result in compassion for people!

I don’t know what to do to serve others, but I will work on my relationship with Christ and look to Him to show me how I can further His kingdom.

Litchfield

This weekend we went to the beach with our friends Chad and Lauren. I am absolutely in love with Litchfield!!!!! We ate lots of good food, went on walks, rode the golf cart, and had LOTS OF FUN!! I didn't take lots of pictures b/c I kept forgetting, but here are a few. I am definitely going to try and convince my parents to rent a place for a week down there next summer:)
