Dacusville Farm Show 2013

We made our annual traditional Labor Day Weekend excursion to the Dacusville tractor show this morning!

Things were a bit different this year for sure!  The man who has always done the show in the past passed away last year so another person down the street hosted the show at their farm.  It wasn't quite the same and there were not quite as many tractors there and very few trees to seek shade under, but it was still a good time!  M didn't take his own tractors this year, so we were able to all go together this year!

Happy Labor Day Weekend!

Getting Adjusted

We are starting to adjust to our new school schedule!

I haven't taken a bunch of pictures and nothing too exciting has happened, so I'll just go with short captions for this post!
Who knew a Cozy Coupe Car could be so entertaining?!?!

It's much easier to have just 1 kid with me when I get my oil changed!

They insist on checking the mail with me everyday!

1st day of gymnastics - he LOVED it! (pictures are blurry because I took them through
the viewing glass)

After S's fall at school, I decided I should probably get the kids new shoes
that actually had some tread on the bottom!  They both wear the same size now!!!
HAHA!!  Size 10 for both of them:)
She told me she was going to do some outside chores and first on the list
was sweeping all the mulch off the driveway!

C had a play date at the park with a friend and we ended up running into
a couple of friends that were there as well!

When C is either tired or really enjoying what he is eating/doing(which I believe is a bit
of both in this picture), he twirls his hair!!!  All the time!!

Other notes:
1.  I am taking a break from Facebook.
2.  I have put 800 MILES on my car in ONE WEEK!!
3.  I am going to be the room mom for S's class:)  Kinda nervous about this one, but definitely excited to be involved as much as I can!
4.  We met our new neighbors and they seem great!  They have a boy in Kindergarten and a girl in 4th grade.  All the kids on the street were out playing tonight, running from one house to another - 8 of them!  And they all got along great... so far!
5.  C started speech back up after taking a break for the summer and I love his new therapist.  I think he likes her too because he did a great job!  For now he is getting a one on one session(although there can be up to 3 kids in a session at one time) for 30 minutes.  The therapist no longer comes to the house but we go to a child development center in town.  For this I am grateful!  I sat in with him for the 1st session, but will not be in the room from now on!

The only thing left to start now is C's school!!!  Then we will be on our regular, fall schedule for the year!:)

A Bad Day

After meeting C's teachers this morning, I had a quick appointment and then was heading back to the house to get C some much needed rest!

However, my plans were abruptly rerouted when I got the call that S had fallen and hit her mouth at school and that I needed to come and get her and take her to a doctor!  I was in a panic!!  My heart dropped!!  I was on the complete other side of town from the school, was desperately trying to get to my baby and didn't know the fastest way to get there and got stuck behind every slow driver in the county!  I can't even imagine what my blood pressure was at this point!

I FINALLY made it to the school and found my sweet little girl sitting in the nurse's office looking so pitiful!  I was so glad to see her!  I had made a doctor's appointment on the way to get her so we drove back across town to the pediatrician's office where they were waiting on us!

They looked her over really well, actually two doctor's checked her out and then they called the dentist to ask if we could go there for another look!

Off we were to the dentist office, but they were closed for lunch for another 45 minutes... not enough time to do anything, and way too long to sit in the car any longer as we had been in the car for HOURS(seriously!) by this point!  I had some toys in the car that I keep for car line at school so C can be entertained, so I took them out and we set up camp in the shade by the door!  All started out well, until C just couldn't handle it anymore!  If you remember, he was already overdue for a nap before I got the call from the school so by now he is a complete mess!!!  He gets calmed down after a while, they unlock the door and I run for the TV and turn it on for them!  Luckily, one of C's favorites, Super Why!, was on!

The dentist takes a look at S, gets nerve x-rays done of her permanent teeth on top in front and tells me that she has had a lot of gum trauma with this fall.  The permanent teeth are not loose but are still in the developmental stages so there are still nerves that we cannot see on the x-ray, but the ones he can see look okay!  Thank you, Lord!  He gave us an antibiotic prescription(I didn't even know dentists did that!) and sent us on our way!

This was a very, very rough day at our house!!!

PDO Teachers

This morning, after dropping S off at school, C and I had a breakfast date at Dunkin' Donuts before going to his new "school" (aka our church) to meet his teachers for PDO(Parents Day Out) this year!  He is technically at the age for K3, but we are planning at this point to hold him back a year so we'll do K3 next year unless something changes.

He was so excited, but so nervous all at the same time!:)  The teachers seem awesome!!!!  We know a few kids in his class and that makes me happy!  When he found out that he was getting his own little red bag like S has had for the last few years, he was over the moon!  He was very, very proud of his new bag!

I am looking forward to a great year for him!!

What is it About Apple Baskets?

Neither one of these pictures was posed!

Sky Top

This afternoon after church we made our way to enjoy our annual visit at Sky Top Orchard!

I mean, nothing about the visit could have been any better!  The sun was shining, it was a beautiful 80*, we didn't have to book it all the way to the back of the orchard to find any apples and we were able to pick my favorites, gala and honeycrisp!!

We picked about 1/2 basket each of the galas and honeycrisps, checked out the animals, walked through the bamboo forest, had fresh apple cider doughnuts and played on the playground!

It was a wonderful afternoon and even though we were all exhausted from a packed weekend(I fell asleep on the way home - ha!), it was a great ending to our weekend!!

Grandpa!

Grandpa was able to stop in and visit two very tired kids for a bit this evening!

The "witching hours" have never been more proven than during his visit!  He played with them and helped to keep them entertained while I bathed the other and then helped me to finally get them put to bed.  Whew!!

Thank goodness for Grandpa!!  He saved the day and my sanity!

And What was C Doing On the 1st Day of Kindergarten?

Don't worry, he was well entertained with an all day play date with his BFF!!!

What more could he ask for?:)

After all the playing, we had to go get S from school and the poor kid was out!

They were so excited to see each other after school that they played well, almost without fighting for the rest of the afternoon!!

1st Day of Kindergarten

Oh what a day!!!

I actually walked my baby girl to her first day of kindergarten - it was almost a surreal feeling as we walked down the hall, with her leading the way and dropped her off:)  She was so so so excited and couldn't wait to get into her class. I made her stand outside and could barely snap 2 pictures before she was over it!  HA!  Get use to it sweet girl, I will never stop taking them!

As we turned around and walked back to the car, I began to tear up which I didn't think I would do, but was soon distracted by a certain little 3-year-old.

I picked her up in a forever-long carpool line and was close to tears again when I saw her walk out to get in the car.  I didn't get a whole lot out of her about what she did, but she did say she made 4 friends(2 boys and 2 girls) but didn't know their names and that her favorite part was coloring.

She was very excited as she got into bed tonight, with visions of kindergarten dancing in her head!

OH, and I was told that she did not want me to walk her in tomorrow, but wanted me to drop her off at the door!  So independent!!

I started the tradition with S when she was going into K3.  I have her tell me all about her favorites.  Here is her list:
TV Show - Team Umizoomi (although I think it is really Sofia the First)
Food - Ice Cream
Best Friend - Tessa
Candy - Mints
Color - Pink
Book - Ariel
Activity - Playing with C-man (This is what she said last year too! They really, really do love each other!  Sweet girl!)
What she wants to be - Animal Rescuer

Soccer!!

We had S's first ever team sport practice tonight!  She is playing soccer through the YMCA and the coach is the dad of one of her best friends from church and there are 5 other kids on the team that are also from church!  It's a great setup!  She has friends on her team, and we have friends on the sidelines:)  But, ugh, C-man on the sidelines is not fun!  He wants to play so badly and I didn't bring any food or toys or a ball or a chair to sit in or anything for him - nothing!  I'm such an amateur!!  Next week I will be much better prepared to entertain him:)

S had a wonderful first practice and actually did really, really well!  She completely surprised and impressed me!  And she loved it which is most important:)  She got sweaty, dirty, played hard and came away smiling!

I hope that she enjoys sports as much as I did growing up!!!

Dance is Back

This afternoon S had her first dance class of the new year!  She was excited to be back but I think a bit exhausted from all the go-go-go we've been doing(It will be a rude awakening for her starting next week when she is in school all day and then has to come straight to dance for 1.5 hours afterwards!)!

I tried to get a cute, dance-ish picture with a pointed toe or something, but she wasn't having it, we were late, and it was absolutely insane the number of people at the studio!!  So I just took what I could get!

She will be in Beginning Ballet II(BBII) and also tap.  There are two different tap classes and because she took tap at this studio last year, she and the 4 other girls that were in her class last year are being bumped up into the older tap class.  Not sure how I feel about this, or how she feels about it!  She looked completely overwhelmed by everything when I picked her up!  Hopefully everything will work itself out and be smoother and we'll all know what is going on better over the next few weeks!!

While she was at dance, C and I headed to the park for a good run(stroller ride for the boy) and some playground time!  C was super excited about his stroller ride even if he looks a bit big for the stroller!  He does talk more now, so I was having to push this huge stroller/kid combo up the hills and attempt to talk to him at the same time!  Whew!!  When I had finished what I had planned to run, I asked if he was ready to go to the playground.  He told me that he wanted to keep going in the stroller - almost like having a personal trainer:)  I did walk now instead of run!  He's a great workout partner - ha!!  We walked for a bit longer and then played on the playground before going to get S!

I think C is really going to miss his Sissy, because even in just the short time she was at dance, he asked about her at least 10 times and wanted to go get her!  When we got there and her class was over, he ran into her room and wrapped his arms around her!  I love them!!!
