Fall Weekend

This weekend there were happy times and not so happy times.

We'll start with the happy.

On Saturday, M and I took S to the mountains to Brevard, NC. We wanted to see all the leaves since it is just about peak time right now. It started out a bit overcast, but quickly became a beautiful day! They were having a Halloween Festival in downtown Brevard where we stopped and walked around for a bit. Then, we headed into the Pisgah National Forest to Looking Glass Falls. I've definitely seen more water in the river, but S thought the waterfall was really neat. My family use to go to the Pisgah and camp every year since we were in elementary school. It has been a few years since I've ventured up that way and it was fun to make a return and also to see how much S enjoyed everything.

On Sunday, our church had their fall festival. M was helping out with one of the inflatable slides, so S and I walked around. We saw a bunch of friends while we were there and were able to play with the ducks, go down the big slide and pet the goats. It was a good escape, because....

Now for the bad...

S has been sick this weekend:( She started showing signs of getting sick on Thursday, but didn't have a temp until Saturday evening when we got home from the mountains. Yes, I took her to the festival sick, but I think it was good for all of us to get out of the house. And, since we were outside and I kept her away from other kids, I figured she wouldn't be getting anybody else sick while we were there.

Boo in the Zoo

Our zoo does a trick-or-treat through the zoo at Halloween time. The kids are suppose to dress up in their costumes, but S just went as a sweet baby girl. Most of the animals are put away, and you just go from station to station collecting candy. They have lots of decorations up around the zoo and all the kids really seemed to enjoy it (you can rest assured that S did not get any candy while we were there!).

Go Tigers!

We took S to her first Clemson game this weekend! Well, actually, we didn't make it to the game, but we walked around and showed her the campus. We also went and heard the band warming up which she LOVED! I think she is going to have rhythm! She missed her morning nap but did GREAT while we were there. We left right as the game was started and headed home where we watched the second half on TV. She'll definitely be making more trips to the games!

Congrats to A and R!

Well, I have been slack about getting this posted, but our really good friends had their baby girl on 10/5! She is happy, healthy, beautiful and already has her mommy and daddy wrapped around her little finger!!! I am so excited for them and know that Baby D and S will be great friends. Look at how sweet and precious this little girl is (I stole these pics from her blog)!

Apples, Apples Everywhere!

This morning we headed up to the apple orchard! M and I have done this every year since we were married and plan to continue the tradition with S! I have never, though, seen it as crowded as it was today! We saw 3 couples that we knew - one from church, one from college and one from work. What are the odds:)

Anyway, we picked apples,

ate lunch,

played on the pumpkins,

and went for a walk to see the goats.

It was a lot of fun and S really seemed to enjoy herself! Now to begin the apple cooking:)

My Little Girl is 1 Today

HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY!!!!!

Wow... has it been a year since S was born?? At 11am October 8, 2007 S was born weighing 6lb7oz and 19in long. Look at her now! She has grown into such an amazing, animated, friendly, beautiful little girl. I no longer have a baby! It's amazing how much she has learned to do in her short life so far. She can crawl, walk (we're still working on this one!), eat by herself, wave, say "ma-ma", "da-da", "Abby", "shoe", she quacks like a duck, knows her name, knows what "no" means but sometimes pretends she doesn't, she points to herself in pictures, and much much more!

You've come a long way sweet girl! We love you so much and are so blessed to be your parents! We love watching you grow and know that God has great things in store for you!!!

Oktoberfest

On Saturday, after S's party, we took her downtown to Oktoberfest. She got to ride in her new car, instead of a stroller, and LOVED it! She thought she was too cool for words. She'd wave at everyone as we passed and would then hold onto the steering wheel as if she were really driving - that is scary to even think about!!!! We had a great time, saw a lot of people we knew, ate bratwursts and heard good ol' German music and the best part is that is was all FREE:)

There were a lot of people there so we had to walk a good ways after parking - S didn't mind!!

Mesmerized by something.

First Birthday Party!

S had her first birthday party this afternoon. We had a great time and S had a lot of fun showing off for her aunts, uncles, grandparents and everyone else (although she wasn't quite sure what to think when we all sang "Happy Birthday" to her)!! Having cousin Will there was so wonderful. I think they will be good friends as they grow up being only 2 months apart and living so close together! Thanks to everyone who came to help celebrate with us! We love you:)
