Thanksgiving 2009

Ahhh.... Thanksgiving!!

This year we went to New Bern, NC as we always do to visit with my mom's side of the family. There were several people missing this year, but we still had a blast! S had so much fun with her cousins and asked about them every morning when she woke up! We ate TONS of food and were able to hang out for the better part of two days! The weather on Thanksgiving Day could not have been any nicer and we were able to get outside quite a bit. Friday was a different story as it was really windy. But, it didn't keep the guys from playing golf and us from walking around downtown (pictures of Friday to come later - I'm too tired to do any more uploading!).

Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

Peanut Butter

Well, I finally did it. I was eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and S was throwing a fit b/c she wanted a bite of what Mommy had (what else is new??). So, I gave in and let her have a little bite. She didn't have a reaction!!! YAY!! The whole bite was about the size of a penny but I know that it did have some peanut butter on it. I guess that was enough to determine if she was allergic or not, right? Hopefully so!!

Sand Table

Usually, when I am cooking dinner, I pop in Barney (we've moved on from Elmo - I guess this is considered moving up??). But, when my mom was up a couple of weeks ago, she got S some sand for her sand/water table that has been sitting empty since summer when we had water in it. S loves it and it keeps her well entertained. Now, when I'm cooking and it is nice outside, I put S on the back deck with the door open and I don't feel guilty for rotting her brain:)

Mountain Weekend 2009

This past weekend we went up to Beech Mountain with a couple of other families. In all, we had 6 adults and 3 two-year-olds! I know, we are part crazy:) But, really, the girls did SO GOOD!!!!!! I was impressed with all of them and how well they got along. Of course, we had a few sharing issues and some tantrums, but that is to be expected.

We drove up on Saturday and arrived late afternoon to find that the house had not been cleaned from the last person. We had to do all of the laundry so that we would have sheets and towels and then we scoured the bathtubs. Not a great start to a "relaxing" vacation! We let the girls run crazy on the wrap around porch. They loved it - it was like a racetrack for them! And we were able to sit and just let them go. The view from the porch was amazing and allowed for great sunsets!

Sunday we got up and the guys choose a one mile hike for us to go on. Now, one mile may not sound like very far, but with two-year-olds and a pretty rough terrain, it was quite a long mile!! It made for good naps, though:) That night the weather was so warm we ate dinner on the back deck as the sun set and then cooked smores! YUMMY!! S loved, loved, loved them:)

Monday we had a little more of a relaxing outing and went to the rope playground. We were worried it would be too old for the girls, but they really enjoyed it! There were rope swings, obstacle course type things and a HUGE slide that all the girls were brave enough to try.

We woke Tuesday to the remnants of a tropical storm so we packed our bags early and headed home. It was a beautiful weekend spent with wonderful friends!! We are looking forward to hopefully doing it again next year:)

After School

Part of my conversation w/ S on the way home from school today:

me: Did you have fun today?
S: Yes.
me: What did you do?
S: Pooped!....yucky!

2 Year Pictures

I absolutely dread picture days. But, I know one day I will be glad that I go through the stress of getting them done... right?!?! Anyway, today I took S to get her two-year-old pictures taken. I know, it is a month late for this, but today was the first day the studio had their Christmas backdrops available and I wanted to kill two birds with one stone! S did pretty well all things considered, but she was definitely over it by the time we were finished!!

Isn't the tutu that my friend Amanda gave S for her birthday sooooo cute?!?!

P.S. - I'll post the Christmas pictures a little closer to Christmas!

Sunday School Fall Festival

This year, our church did not do a fall festival so our SS teachers were so sweet to allow us to bring our kids to their house for our very own fall festival!! There were kids of all ages there any they all had a great time!! S couldn't keep her hands off the dessert table or out of the candy buckets! What's a mom to do?!?!

What a fun way to end the weekend Halloween festivities:)
