Around Town

Last night M said that we wanted to go to a farmer's market this morning! Sounded great to me! The only one that we knew would be open this early in the season was the Greenville State Farmers Market. And, that's where we went! It was a good outing and the kids saw all sorts of plants and foods they'd never seen before. We got some squash and white(?) sweet potatoes, a tomato plant and some raw milk. Fun!

Afterwards, we went over to M's grandmother's house and visited for a bit! It has been way too long since we saw her last and even though we'd been trying to go by for the last several weeks, it just hadn't worked out! She was so excited to see the kids and they were excited to see her and show off some too! So cute:)

We attempted to go to two different egg hunts, and both of them were cancelled due to the weather. Oh well! Hopefully tomorrow's egg hunt will still happen!

Coffee and Fountains

In my head this sounded like a lot of fun! In reality it made me want to pull my hair out!!

After a good workout nothing sounded better than sitting at a new-to-me coffee shop, drinking some decaf, and letting the kids have a cookie so that they were quiet and I could actually enjoy my coffee. Ummm.... my kids, quiet, HAHAHAHA!!! What was I thinking? We get to the coffee shop, order our coffee and cookie and then I tell the nice lady behind the counter that we'll be eating outside. You see, I wasn't the only one who thought it would be a perfect day for a cup o' joe, but I was the only one with kids who had the idea! I wanted them to have a peaceful drink, so I took one for the team and headed to the lone outside table:) I gave the kids their cookie, they devoured it in 6.2 seconds and then my quiet, happy little bubble went "pop"!! I packed us up, and thought, 'hey, the swings and fountains are just a block away, let's go take a look'. Why do I do this to myself! Granted, the kids had a blast, but Mommy was a bit stressed out! One kid was climbing rocks while the other flirted with the idea of an early spring swim! Ahhh.... I didn't last too long, and my to-go coffee that was sitting in the stroller was now cold b/c I was scared not to have 2 hands free at all times with the crazies!

We left.
I was glad to get into the car where nobody could move.
We came home.
Exhausting.

**Note to self - Think these "great ideas" through a little bit better next time!!!**

K3 Easter Party

S had her class Easter party today! I wasn't one of the helpers, but one of my friends was so I was able to get some pictures from the day! And, the day before the egg hunt S wanted to "practice" getting eggs - oh she is a competitive one sometimes! C on the other hand had absolutely no interest in getting off the lawn mower to search for some silly little plastic eggs that didn't even have candy in them!

Potatoes

Don't these look appetizing!?!? HA! These are potatoes that we grew last year that have been sitting underneath the house since we picked them! So... we're planting them again:)

Sunday

We were bums today! We went to church, brought lunch home to eat, all took naps, grilled out, and that pretty much sums it up! Bring on the week, we're ready!

Oh Exciting!

I felt sorry for our poor door threshhold repairman! He had such an audience:) About this time Mr. James asked for "caulk" but I thought he had asked for "coffee"! Maybe it was just me who needed it - HA!

Airplanes!

Today we went back for the second time to the airport and had lunch with friends! It was fore casted to rain, but it held out just long enough for us to eat, watch TONS of planes come in and take off and let the kids run around like crazies:) AND, I found out that there are plans in the works to build an amazing park with playground right next to the cafe! I see many more trips in our future!

Downtown

As part of C's speech, his therapist wanted to have a hearing test done on him just to rule it out. I wasn't really worried about it since I know he hears everything(particularly at night when sleeping would be a much better alternative - rain, owl, dog barking, etc.!) and he did pass with flying colors!

Afterwards, I took the kids downtown to feed the ducks, which ended up being scary pigeons that scared the boy, so we tossed the rest of the bread into the river, so the ducks could eat it later(?) and they wanted to just walk around! Okay, whatever! It was beautiful and they had so much fun just rambling around! I love our downtown and really should go down there more often!

We came home and had dinner and I thought since we'd had so much fun earlier, that we should continue it with a trip to Brusters! The little baby scoops were SO CUTE with sprinkles and eyes! I just laughed when the girl handed them to me. Sad news, S is too tall for the free baby cups now and I have to pay $1:( Still not too bad to feed the kids each an ice cream with sprinkles(and eyes) for $1!!

Happy St. Patrick's Day:)

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

M and I started the day off by running a 5k race downtown for the first time in over FIVE years! WOW! It was so fun to run it "together" - he left me just to finish less than a minute ahead of me:) He ran a 26min30sec run and I ran a 27min20sec run. Since neither of us trained really for this and we don't run often at all, we were very happy with how we did - although we may be so sore we can't get out of bed in the morning!:) Seriously!!

I tried to have fun St.Patrick's Day surprises for the kids throughout the day. They had Lucky Charms for the first time ever. C ate all the marshmallows and S ate the cereal part so they were both happy! I also did a pot of gold(gold chocolate coins) at the end of the rainbow - big hit! And, for dinner, we had green waffles. I had fun coming up with cute, inexpensive ideas for our day!

M and the kids also planted part 1 of the garden consisting of lettuce and broccoli while I went to the grocery store. He said that S planted all of it by herself without much help from him at all! What a special thing for the kids to learn how to do with their daddy!!

Kicking off St. Patty's Day

S and I made green rice krispie treats in the shape of "shamrocks" (can you believe my container of 101 cookie cutters didn't have a single shamrock yet had about FIVE different sized gingerbread men?!?!) for St. Patty's Day tomorrow! She wants to do them again, I don't! HA!!

The Zoo... Again!

Oh am I going to love our family pass:) This was S's first time this year so I felt it was picture-worthy! I promise not to post pictures from every single time we go because I think that would get redundant, but had to get this one in there! We ended up running into the k4 classes as S's school. She saw several friends she knows from the playground and also her teacher - how crazy is that!?!? I printed a "find the animals at the zoo" page off for her and she got really into it, especially at the beginning! She's like her mommy - loves to check things off the list! I have another one, slightly different, that I'll use next time we go just to keep it interesting! YAY for 80* days and a zoo membership! Happy Friday!

Shorts and Skirts

Yesterday we broke out the short-sleeved shirts and today, after lunch, we found our shorts and skirts!! Bring on Spring, we're ready!!

Notice C throwing a fit in the pictures! Yup, he can throw a temper tantrum with the best of 'em!
