Happy Halloween!!

Both kids went to school this morning, S was dressed in her Halloween shirt and a new hair bow she got from her dance teacher while poor C didn't have anything that even resembled Halloween so he went in just his regular clothes - must remember to get him at least ONE Halloween shirt next year:)

As far as Trick-or-Treating goes, we did as we did last year and just went down our street with our neighbors!!  I love that we can still get away with not going all over the place to see how much candy we can get - honestly, we have more than enough from the past week of festivities already!!!!  S loved seeing the neighbors in their costumes and C was all about running behind all the other kids and gladly gave his best attempt at saying "trick or treat" at each house with his little basket held out for candy!  The entire process of trick-or-treating lasted no more than 45 minutes and we were done and ready for dinner:)  We left our porch light on just in case there were any other trick-or-treaters that came down our street, but there weren't so we turned our lights off and all went to bed - candy-filled..HA!!

Together Tuesdays

Today we supported local for sure!!!:)

We started off with a Halloween story time at the South Carolina Children's Theatre(S and her friend were "twin Dorothys"!) where they were read 2 stories(very animated) and then got to act out the stories themselves. So fun! S loved every minute of it and, surprisingly, C got into it a little bit too - particularly the acting part where he didn't have to sit still:)

Afterwards, we went to the Cafe at Williams Hardware in Travelers Rest for lunch and then scooted down to Forest Coffeehouse for a bag of Leopard Forest Coffee(YUMMO!) and a treat!

It is fun to go places that we typically don't get to go and support the local small businesses in our area at the same time!

Fall Festival

We went to our church fall festival tonight.  Michael was volunteering with our Sunday School class and he was first shift so we went early with him and were able to go down the slide Daddy was helping with about 100 times before anybody else arrived:)  The good news is that there weren't many people there this year!  The bad news is that they weren't there because it was rainy:(  But, we were able to do about 8 inflatables(multiple times!), several preschool-focused games where the kids "won" candy, rode the train and tried out luck(unsuccessfully) at the cake walk!  The kids also got tattoos and S got her face painted!  By that time, we were all frozen, wet and ready to make an exit!  I guess we did get to do a lot of stuff because of the small crowds this year, but it wasn't quite the same exciting atmosphere as in years past!!

Pumpkin Carving

This morning we spent some time carving our pumpkins!  One of them is your typical jack-o-lantern and the other is an idea I got off pinterest and we drilled holes into the pumpkin and then pushed Christmas lights through the holes to illuminate the pumpkin.  SO COOL!  I thought the kids would love carving pumpkins, but other than drilling a few holes and pulling a few handfuls of pumpkin guts out, they were more interested in fightingplaying.  M and I finished the carving and are now the proud owners of 2 cute pumpkins!  We are officially ready for trick-or-treaters!!

BUSY Friday

Today was a busy, but VERY fun day!

While S was at school, C-man and I went and rode George the Train for the last time this season(they close on Tuesday for the winter) with some friends and then played on the playground until it was time to pick Sissy up!

We ate lunch in the car, and headed to the zoo to meet Baby Kiko!!  We were all so excited, but S and I were particularly excited about this new addition to our zoo!  I've shown the kids the giraffe cam so they've seen Kiko on the computer but seeing him in person is so much different.  Unfortunately, as babies do, Kiko sleeps - A LOT!  We attempted to see him 2 times while we were there and both times he was napping and all you can see of him in my picture is a hump in the grass.  Poor baby, he must be exhausted!  Guess I'll just have to make another trip to the zoo soon and try again:)

On the way home the kids were getting a bit out of control having missed naps yesterday, were up 2 hours past bedtime last night and then missed naps/quiet time again today.  The wining was off the charts so instead of going home and being miserable, I knew that the Wings of Freedom Tour was making a stop at Runway Cafe.  We stopped there on the way home and saw some awesome WWII planes(B-24, P-51 and B-17)!  We had a great surprise when we got there because we ran into Darcy and her family there as well!  There is a new park by the restaurant where you can picnic and watch the planes land and soon there will be a playground as well.  The kids enjoyed running around as if they were planes and rolling down the hill!  And, of course, there is just something so awesome about watching the planes take off and land that will surely bring us back to this park many times!
