Breakfast with Santa and a Christmas Parade

This morning we had breakfast with Santa! AWESOME!!! This will definitely be a tradition for us! There was face painting and crafts set up, pictures with Santa and a great breakfast. Two thumbs up from this family!!

Tonight M was working (he went after the breakfast) so I took the kids to see the Festival of Lights and the Christmas parade downtown. This year the lights were set up in several different hotels rather than just all at one. I decided to go to the Marriott Courtyard. There were probably about eight trees there and all were beautifully decorated! S's favorite was the one with the baby deer she could sit next to and pet. C's favorite was one decorated with shoes(he tried to escape with several of them before we finally made our exit from the hotel - the other patrons were none too disappointed by this!). I had planned to grab dinner and get it to go so we could eat it on the curb while we waited for the parade to start. The first place we went had a line out the door (forget that!) and the next two places I thought might be good were both out of business. Okay, so let's just hang out and wait for the parade to start, we'll get dinner after! The kids LOVED the parade and were so excited with all of the excitement! A few things I will remember for next year: 1)pack a dinner and bring it with us (we didn't end up eating until 8pm!) 2)stand on the same side of the street as you park or you won't be able to get to your car if you are trying to get out a little early and beat the crowds! 3)bring a coat for everyone, including me - it's DECEMBER! 4)park in the Poinsett Parking Garage even if you have to pay $5 because it is close to the action and getting out was a breeze compared to other garages! Even though there are things I would do differently next year, I don't regret going at all! Watching the kids enjoy the parade and having such joy in their eyes was worth every bit of effort this adventure took me! S couldn't stop talking about how much she liked it - or how much she wanted to be in a parade:)

You are such a brave Mommy, totally impressed you went to the parade by yourself. Glad you had fun!
