Sky Top Orchard

We met Marsha and her kids at Sky Top this morning to pick apples!

I have never, in I think 8 years, been apple picking in August. However, I have also never been able to pick the oh-so-delicious honey crisp apples because those are picked in August:) This morning was a perfectly overcast 66 degrees when we arrived at Sky Top ! The fact that it wasn't too terribly hot made it not feel quite so wrong to be picking apples!

Anyway, we had a great time and didn't even have the husbands around to wrangle the kids ages 4,3,2 and 3 months - what an adventure! We played on the playground, took photos of course, picked apples, ate hot apple doughnuts and took a tractor ride(the tractor route goes down around the animal area so we were able to avoid having to trek up and down the hill again!)!

I will say that they are becoming awfully money hungry(now weighing the apples and you pay by pound instead of by the basket and the honey crisps cost more than the other varieties!) and rule-oriented(no more eating apples in the orchard..what!?!?!).  But, once I got past the absurdity of this, we enjoyed yet another visit to Sky Top this year!

We came home with tons of apples and now I need to start cooking!:)
