Boating

M has taken a tractor hiatus and now we have ended up with a boat!  HA!!

Our first outing was today and it went much better than I dreaded that it would!  We went up in the afternoon and headed to Lake Keowee!  It was absolutely, ridiculously packed making it very stressful putting in, riding around, swimming and taking it back out!  I was constantly scanning for other boats at all times and had tight grips on the kids because the water was so rough!  S loved everything about it - going "faster Daddy, faster", riding up front with me, swimming, peeing in the water(HAHA!!) and having a picnic on the beach afterwards.  C wasn't quite as sure about things as his sister!  He preferred to be co-captain with Daddy and did not like to be standing in the boat when we were in the middle of getting "waked" by another boat.  I do think, though, that he enjoyed riding!  He even was caught dozing off a few times while sitting in Daddy's lap:)
We will definitely be going out again, but maybe not on a Saturday afternoon next time!
OH!  Let me not forget to mention the key incident:)  S and I were swimming off the back of the boat one last time before heading back to the landing and M and C were going to just hang out on the boat.  C has a tendency to turn keys if left in the ignition, so M was the responsible one and tossed the key(attached to the floating key ring so it wouldn't sink) up on the dashboard of the boat.  Welllll, the key ring broke and the key slid down between the plastics and we couldn't get it.  We didn't realize this had happened until we were getting close to shore and got back in the boat to back out!  M and I just looked at each other with an "oh no, what are we going to do??" look!  Luckily, we were right next to a dock with some friendly people on it who dove into the water and dragged our boat to their dock.  And, about 30 minutes later, using a screwdriver and a coat hanger were able to get our key out!  We learned to keep an extra key on the boat for those "just in case" moments!!!  And maybe invest in n oar too!  HAHA!!
Always an adventure and we look forward to many more:)
