Shenandoah National Forest

This morning we packed up and left Williamsburg.  We put quite a few miles on the car today!  We drove to Shenandoah National Forest and hiked two great trails!  The first was Dark Hollow's Falls Trail which was a 1.4 mile hike and, obviously, a waterfall was involved:)  The second was a 1.2 mile hike on Bearfence Trail which was the craziest trail I've ever seen, but also that coolest!  It literally went up and over a huge rock outcropping along the side of the mountain.  We scaled some pretty scary rocks and were rewarded with amazing 360* views up the Virginia mountains!

After we finished our hikes, we were a bit ahead of schedule, so we decided to take the scenic route through some of the most beautiful land there is and stopped at a winery and had a wine tour on our way to our final Virginia destination!  It was a great, spontaneous excursion!!

After finding a nearby farm to table restaurant and eating dinner, we FINALLY got to our hotel a little after 8pm and lights were out not too long after that!

Bearfence Trail

This was the actual trail!?!?!

View from the top!  See the blue blaze trail markers right
along the rock?  Crazy!!  But amazing!

The trail was a loop, so we came pretty much right back under the "trail" we
had just hiked!  Up on top of those rocks is where we were!
