Greenville Zoo and Airport Park

This morning we went to the zoo!  I had tickets from the staycation package and we are running out of summer to use them!  The weather was beautiful, it wasn't too crowded and we were able to see Autumn(a VERY pregnant giraffe that is due to give birth any minute!!)!  I wanted to go before the new baby arrived because I knew it would be a madhouse for the rest of the summer after that!
It was a fun time with just me and the kids, and actually pretty relaxing too!:)

Both kids knew a lot about the different animals since they
had both been to camp at the zoo a couple weeks ago!

They had a new-found interest in all the animals - I'm so glad they did zoo camp!

Zoom in on this picture!  I was at the playground and saw Autumn walking around
the exhibit and you can SEE the baby giraffe's leg sticking out of her side!!!!!!!

Baby Bob was hysterical trying to get every.last.bit of peanut
butter out of the jar and licking his fingers!!

After the zoo, I had a picnic packed to eat at the park and let the kids play some more before heading home.  Well.... this past weekend Cleveland Park, the playground area just outside the zoo, was flooded from the worst rains this area has seen since the 90s!  The park was closed for a couple days after the rain and even still today the little kid's part was closed!  When we had parked before heading into the zoo, there was a sewer stench in the air and I had thought that when the river overflowed there was probably more than just water involved(the sewer lines run parallel to the river!) and then I saw the county was pressure washing the little kids' area.  I guarantee there was all kids of disgusting junk all over those playgrounds just 24 hours ago and there was no way we were going to be eating our lunch in that(but there was an entire day care sitting at the picnic tables just munching away!)!!! Blech!!

So, instead we drove down the street to the Airport Park!  To our great surprise, they have added another playground(geared more towards bigger kids probably) and a covered picnic area!  Score!!  We definitely were not the only ones with the idea to spend some time there, but it was amazing! We'll be going back again, hopefully soon:)

1. I can't believe you already blogged about this! And
2. That pic of baby poking out of autumn's side is unreal!
