This is the last week of summer and I wanted to do a few fun things with the kids before they go back to school! The weather has been pretty rainy lately, but we decided to chance it and go for a road trip to NC.
First stop, Sky Top Orchard! This is the earliest we've ever been apple picking for sure! It was raining when we got there, but they were still cooking fresh donuts so we thoroughly enjoyed those and by the time we finished the rain had let up! Off we went into the orchard where there were lots and lots of apples to pick. We picked Early Macs, Goldens and Galas! We filled our baskets in no time at all and didn't have to trek through the entire orchard to do so! WIN!!! The owner was there and said that this was going to be a great, great year for apples - abundant crop was obvious!
Next, we went to Hands On! a children's museum in Hendersonville, NC! I wasn't sure if it would be too young for the kids, but they both claimed that it was awesome and better even then the one in Greenville! Well then! I'll take that! S's favorites were the stage(of course!), grocery store(of course) and the nursery where they take care of the baby dolls(not a boy to be found in this room! HA!). C's favorites were the stage(somewhat surprised!), grocery store(although he just wanted to run the scanner and that was all!) and his absolute favorite was the veterinarian office(again, surprised me!)! We spent several hours here and the kids could have stayed for even longer, but we had to get back for piano lessons!
