Sky Top Orchard

Today, just before I went to pick the kids up from school, I decided to take them to Sky Top to get some apples!  So, needless to say, the kids are not dressed in cute apple outfits, actually, they aren't dressed in cute clothes at all!!!  S even may have chocolate ice cream stained on her shirt, which is too small anyway, and C some pinkish-redish junk on his arm!  But, that didn't matter as we trekked through the orchard, on a beautiful day with next to zero crowds!  I missed the Honey Crisp variety, but still was there when the picking was good for the Gala!  I'll take it!!!  I love going earlier in the season so that we don't have to hike it all the way to the other end of the orchard to just find any apples to pick!  We didn't have to go far at all before we found trees laden with apples, and better still, the apples were at the kids' level!  C was an excellent picker and got lots of apples in his basket - although we'll have to work on the gentleness with which he puts the apples in the basket, as we may have quite a few bruises on the ones he picked!  S was a bit more of a lazy picker - I'll give her the benefit of the doubt that she was just plain tuckered out after a week of school!  We each had our own baskets, but I suggested that the kids not fill theirs completely to the top so that they wouldn't be too heavy... but, really, why did it even matter because we all know who got stuck carrying all three baskets back up to the top of the mountain - oh yes, that would be me!!! After we finished our picking, paid for our apples and put them in the car, we made our way to the playground, but got sidetracked on the way there when we saw Sean, Cousin Will and Madeline!  What a great surprise!  The cousins played on the playground a bit and then the kids and I went to get doughnuts while their cousins went in search of apples!  The doughnuts were all but inhaled!!!!  We took a few more pictures and then packed it up to head back home!  Hopefully we'll be back again before the season is over!!
