Spring Break Part 1 - Creeper Trail and Abingdon, VA

Because we are taking such a huge trip this summer, we decided to scale back our Spring Break excursions!  However, that does NOT mean we didn't have an amazing time!  Yesterday we got an EARLY start(6am!) and made it to Damascus, VA for our morning Creeper Trail ride!  The weather was a bit unsettled, but we managed to stay dry for the first 2/3 of the 17 miles and then only encountered sprinkles the last leg!  This is such an enjoyable and leisurely ride!  We did this ride two years ago, and were very excited to return!  We packed heavy snacks/lunch and also stopped for ice cream along the trail so unlike our first experience, we were not famished by the end!  The kids are completely self sufficient, and rode at their own paces which meant that C was out front somewhere for the majority oft he ride, and S brought up there rear most of the time:)

Last night we stayed at the very swanky, Martha Washington Inn in Abingdon, VA!  What a fun experience!  We felt so fancy and they had plenty of activities for us - putt putt, indoor saltwater pool, trampoline, basketball!  We walked around the little downtown area and it just happened to be a bit prom night so S and I enjoyed seeing all the girls dressed up:)

We didn't sleep great last night, in typical fashion, but had the most amazing, "free" breakfast at the hotel this morning before getting on the road to come home!!

Spring Break is off to a great start!
