Fall Harvest Festival at Roper Mountain Science Center

We attended 2nd Saturday at RMSC this morning.  We were there 3 hours and, as usual, didn't even put a dent in all they had to offer!  We saw so much fun stuff including a horse plowing(didn't actually do it this year because it rained a lot yesterday and it was very muddy out there!), sheep herding(a favorite for all of us and quite impressive!), goat milk soap-making, attended school, played music with the Nickpickers, broom making, weaving, blacksmithing, pewtersmithing(one of C's favorites), corn cob dart making, made and tasted fresh apple cider, hearth cooking, rug hooking(one of C's favorites), checked in on the garden and saw the animals, petted snakes and bunnies, made several nature crafts and ran into some our favorite RMSC emoployees!  Whew!  We packed a lot in and had so so so much fun!  It was hard to tear the kids away to leave but we needed to get S to Nutcracker rehearsal!

Petting the bunny

Weaving - cotton into thread!

This lady gave us so much time teaching the kids(and me)
about making thread!

School time - C got up in front and read a poem and S volunteered to be
the "bad" kid and sit with a dunce cap on at the front of the room;)

Making a corn husk doll - she says she is going to make
clothes for it at home!

Another craft that C thought was great fun to play with!

One of the musicians teaching C to play a homemade
wooden instrument:)
