We just spent a beautiful week in Aruba! It was the clearest water and most stunning beaches! The people were so nice and welcoming! We so enjoyed our time there! I'd love to be able to return one day!
Sunday, July 27 - We arrived at the airport at 3:30am. ZZZZzzzzz!! We spent the morning flying with a layover in Charlotte. After arriving, going through customs and getting our rental car, we arrived at the Embassy Suites where we would stay for the first 3 nights. Our room wasn't quite ready, so we stored our luggage and had lunch on property. We then changed into our swimsuits and headed to the beach(the beach where the Embassy Suites is located was definitely not our favorite, but it was where we first put our feet in the sand and Caribbean!) for a bit and then enjoyed some pool time. Our room was ready by this time and we changed to head down to the main strip for dinner. We stopped to watch the beautiful sunset over the pool before leaving. We ate dinner at Salt and Pepper and then C insisted on gelato before we came back to the hotel after a very long, amazing day!
Monday, July 28 - Because we had gone so hard yesterday, we started kinda slow this morning! We had breakfast at the hotel and then drove to Palm Beach where we spent the better part of the day! We walked up to Eduardo's for lunch, did some reading, the boys threw the football they'd bought yesterday, we met some people that we talked to way too long in the water and got sunburned and then headed back to the hotel The kids got some pina coladas and we cooled off in the pool. We had dinner reservations at Papiamento and what a neat place it was!
Tuesday, July 29 - There was no sleeping in this morning! We were the first ones down for breakfast because we had our snorkeling tour guide picking us up at 7:30am to spend the morning looking at fish and sea turtles! What an adventure! None of us had ever snorkeled so we weren't sure what to expect! We went to two different places, but both were beach entry! The first place we went a bit farther and deeper than I would have liked, but we saw TWO sea turtles and tons of fish as we swam around! Absolutely amazing! Our second stop was all about so many different fish! It was a great experience! After a full morning, we had lunch at the hotel and then drove a bit of a ways to Baby Beach for the afternoon! We even saw wild donkeys on the way! So crazy!! For dinner, we went back down to the strip to Lola's because our guide had told us it was Taco Tuesday with $1 tacos! Say no more!!
Wednesday, July 30 - Today we checked out of the Embassy Suites because the next four nights we'd planned to stay at an Airbnb! We had a little time to kill before we met our contact at the Airbnb, so we opted to check out the aloe farm. I wasn't sure what to expect exactly, but the farm and the free tour were surprising really interesting! We walked away with some sunscreen and lip balm. It was time to meet our contact at the condo and after getting us settled she gave us some good food recommendations! We headed down to the next condo complex and ate lunch, did some light grocery shopping and then spent some time on Eagle Beach - our home beach for the next few days! It was a beautiful beach and we knew we were going to love this place! We took some beach pictures before heading down the street to Terrazza Italiana for dinner with such a view!
Thursday, July 31 - We spent the day enjoying the amazing Eagle Beach! M made sure to get down to the beach early and secure us a palapa for the day - luckily we got the last one! Having shade allowed us to stay so much longer than if we'd been in the sun! We finally pulled ourselves away from sand and salt to get ready for dinner at Faro Blanco. Oh my! This place was something else with the views and sunset! I felt like what I think I would feel like in Tuscany, Italy(I'd love to go there one day too... lol!)!
Friday, August 1 - This morning M and C were up very early to go fishing! S and I stayed behind and spent the day at the beach and pool! M and C caught a good many fish while they were out but the seas were really rough, even the captain thought so! After they got back and got cleaned up some, and we spent some more time on the beach, I wanted to go back to the point that we could see from the restaurant last night to watch the sunset. We parked and walked, and admittedly, we did not take the easy way and got a bit turned around and almost found ourselves out there at dark! But, we saw an absolutely amazing sunset, made it back to the car in one piece and then enjoyed a much deserved dinner back on the strip at On the Rocks! Afterwards we walked around looking for a couple of souveniers and then went back to the condo!
Even if we were a bit lost on the walk back, the dunes and sky were beautiful! |
