Championships Meet

We got the call last weekend that C had made it to Championships in both of his relays, IM and backstroke!  He dealt with his ear infection/swimmers' ear ALL week and today was the first time he was cleared to swim!  Needless to say, he was thrilled to be able to compete today, but it was also not his best meet since he'd been out of practice for two solid weeks.  Poor kid!  I think he knew why he didn't do as well as he'd wanted in his head, but it was still hard on him!  But, he rallied pretty quickly and overall he did have a fun time at the meet!  I, unfortunately, had to time the entire meet for a second year in a row!  Ugh!

It's always so fun to see cousins!!

Apparently they weren't as original as they
thought they were

Well done, C!

Clemson University Tour

The kids and I visited Clemson today and took an official college tour!  We also made it a point to get ice cream, TWICE!  Once before the tour from 55 Exchange(official Clemson ice cream!) and then again in downtown Clemson at Handel's where the kids recognized a reality TV star that they were super excited about!  It's always a great day to be in Tiger Town!

It's a LOT harder to get into Clemson now than it used to be!

Night Away

When M and I attended the Hope Gala back in early spring, we "won" a silent auction item that included a one night's stay at the AC Hotel in Downtown Greenville!  We were able to finally make it happen and enjoyed dinner out on a beautiful night, a walk around the downtown streets and our first night away from the kids in almost seventeen years!  Hopefully it won't take another seventeen years to do it again!

Swim Team Banquet

We had our annual swim team banquet this evening at the Cannon Centre!  Such a meaningful night of recognition for a wonderful season with Woody Creek!

Lake Week 2024

We talked last year about wanting to spend an entire week at the lake and this year we made it happen(it's also already in the plans for next summer!)!  We had lots of family and friends come up throughout the week!  We celebrated C's 14th bday, 4th of July and Cousin Avery's 12th bday!  Unfortunately, due to all the fun we were having, we neglected to put drops in ears after being in the lake all day every day and C ended up with a double ear infection and double swimmer's ear.  Ugh!  He was miserable!  Other than that, the week was so much fun!

The four of us arrived last Sunday afternoon to get everything stocked and ready for the week! And, we were allowed a few hours of calm before the storm;)

On Monday, Kim came with her girls, Grandpa and Gigi and three of S's friends from her mission trip this summer came up as well!  We celebrated C's, tubed, surfed and ate the day away!

Cousins

Happy Bday, C!

S's mission trip friends(round 1... lol!)

The cousins were all so cooperative
in their festive costumes!

RK and C like to go fast and rough on the
tube...

Madison and Kim preferred an easier ride;)

And, of course, we can't go an entire
day at the lake without fishing!

Tuesday, the rest of S's mission trip friends came up!  It was a houseful for sure!  The Mays also came by to hang out a the dock for awhile with their friends!

Ready to start the day.

Early morning surfing before the rest of
the mission trip crew got there!

C and Chris kinda bonded a bit!  He was a sweet
kid!

The boys

Gigi ended up staying the night after
Kim and her girls left.  She didn't want
to miss out on any of the fun!

The whole mission group - I had no idea this many would
show up!  And one more came later!  Whew!!

A few quiet moments for me on the
paddleboard away from the crazy!

The sun setting on another beautiful day at Lake
Keowee!

Wednesday the mission group kids stayed until about dinner time!  So many memories these kids made over the 48 hours they were here!

Keeping an eye on 11 kids in the water!  Not
for the feint of heart!

M and the 11 out for a looong ride
to get everyone surfing!

4th of July!  Liz and Ford and their girls came Thursday morning!  It had been soooo long since we'd seen them!  Gosh it was good for us to get together with them!  The four cousins got along so well and had a ball!  Brady also came up for the 4th and fit right in with the rest of the crazies!  We surfed, tubed, celebrated Avery's 12th birthday and watched fireworks from the boats!

Birthday week for these two cousins!

Cousin time!

I love having time with family!

After a late night of fireworks, everyone spent the night and we got on the water early on Friday morning!  C, Avery and Brady did a lot of surfing.  Unfortunately, this is about the time C's ears started bothering him.  After lunch and everyone else had gone home, him and I came back to Greer for an appointment and got some drops.  We also made a grocery run before heading back up to the lake.  A huge storm came through while we were gone and knocked the power out all around the northern part of the lake.  We'd planned to go to have dinner with the O'Sullivans but since we had a generator and we still needed to cook food, we opted for our house instead;)  It was so good to see them up there!  This was the first time all summer it worked out!

C woke up feeling terrible on Saturday morning and running a fever.  We spent the better part of the day trying to get more/different antibiotics called in for him and picked up!  We were also all tired so pretty much just chilled for the day.  M and I did take a sunset cruise as it was our last night there and we felt we had to suck up as much as we could before heading back to reality!

Beautiful Lake Keowee!
